Authors on Stage Club
Club Leader: Mrs. Tracie Fior & Miss Anna Robinson
Grades: 4th-6th
Meet on Tuesdays from 11:50-12:50 in room 205
Activity: Students will become authors and learn how to write their own plays, poems, etc. The students will then create their own costumes, props, and scenery and perform their own works of writing at a performance for the community.
Battle of the Books
December - April

Grades: 3rd through 6th
Activity: Battle of the Books is a reading competition. Students work in teams to read books and prepare for a trivia competition in April to become Central Road’s champions. There are two levels of competition.
- Competitive league reads from a list of 30 books ranging from 3rd through 8th grade levels. The winning team of the competitive league moves on to the district battle in April.
- Recreational league reads from a list of 15 books ranging from 2nd through 5th grade levels. The winning team celebrates their victory at a school level.
Chorus

Grades: 5th and 6th
Activity: We work on improving your singing voice in a group setting. There are 3 concerts where we perform for the public: Veteran’s Day Assembly, Winter Sing during lunch, and May 6th at night for parents. There is also an opportunity to participate in a solo/ensemble singing contest on February 1st.
Drama Club

Club Leader: Mrs. Morris
Grades: 5th and 6th
Activity: We work on all aspects of performing publicly on stage. We have improv games where you have to react on the spot, charades where your voice cannot talk but your actions convey meaning, and written scripts to memorize and act out with props and costumes. We will have a public performance on Wednesday, May 6th for family and friends. This is the club where you are encouraged to not act your age.
Friendly Reading Club
Garden Club
Club Leader: Alex Simonian
Grades: 3- 6
Activity: Students will be weeding, watering, planting, and possibly more. Students will get to plant vegetables in the Spring and harvest in the Summer/Fall.
Day of the Week/ Time: Mondays 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM (every Monday until November, then start back up again in March - May), Thursdays during lunch hour (twice a month)
Green Ribbon Wolves
Club leader: Mrs. Karen Zielinski
Activity: Students will be looking for ways to help our school recycle, reuse supplies and reduce our waste and energy use. We will be running a number of special events like zero waste lunch days, reusable water bottle challenge, energy audits and recycling with Rowley.

Limited to the first 25 students who turn in their permission slips.
Intramurals

Activity: The goal of intramural sports is to provide an atmosphere where learning, exercise, and fun take place. The students can perfect a skill and acquire new ones, while spending time with friends playing a variety of games/sports.
Mindful Mornings

Meets: January - May
Days of the Week: Tuesday and Thursday Mornings 8-8:30
Grade Levels: 4th-6th
Activity: Mindful Mornings is a great way to start the day with a positive and growth mindset-aligned attitude. Students will participate in various yoga routines, meditation exercises, and peaceful reflection activities. Our goal will be to prepare our minds and bodies for the day ahead of us. We value personal mindfulness and positive peer connections, and we will be helping one another grow in these ways.
STEAM

Grade Levels - 3rd and 4th
Activity: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math are the topics we center our activities around. Students will have activities that involve the life sciences, chemistry and physics. In terms of technology kids will code different robots. We will build bridges, and make marble runs and incorporate art and math into the builds.

Activity: Students who want to push themselves to be a leader to his or her peers at school can apply to be a member of our Student Leadership team! As a student leader, each child is able to participate in a variety of committees and roles that will help promote respect, responsibility, and community within our school. They will lead a variety of events for our entire student population, such as cool tools, give back opportunities to the community, celebrating positive behavior, spirit days, and more!
Studio Production
September to May
11:50-12:30 daily
Club Leader: Mr. Brents
Grades: 5th and 6th
Activity: Students work in teams of three to four to produce the daily Central Road newscast. Students select their own teams of three to four students that are responsible for writing a script, recording a video, and editing prior to publishing. The video is watched by the entire school every morning. The newscast updates students on weather, announcements, lunch specials, birthdays, and even spotlights student accomplishments throughout the year.
Yoga
Club Leader: Miss Holmes
Grades: 1st-4th grade
Day of the Week/ Time: Thursday during the entire recess
Activity: A club for students who are interested in learning how to do yoga, meditation and relaxation! This club will cost $15 to purchase a yoga mat for your child that they will be able to bring home at the end of the session.
